Salters Den 2018 Rules

1. The “Salters Den” competition is;-

1.1 Open to new Businesses i.e. a Business which had not commenced trading before 1st January 2017; whose registered office / main business address is in and which operates wholly or partly from a CW7,  CW8 or CW9 postcode in the UK.

1.2 Is open to entrants 18 years of age or over as at 1st July 2018.

1.3 Is not open to Principals or Employees of the following organisations (the Promoters) whose representatives are the “Salters Den” Judges (“the Judges”);-

  • Mosshaselhurst Solicitors
  • Howard Worth Chartered Accountants
  • NatWest Bank
  • Cheshire West and Chester Council
  • Anyone else connected with the competition or its Promoters

1.4 Opening date;-

9am 1st July 2018.

1.5 Closing date;-

12 Noon 26th October 2018 after which time and date no entries will be considered.

2. Entries

2.1 Entries to be shortlisted once the competition closing date has passed at 12 noon on Friday 26th October 2018. The Judges will exercise their discretion to identify the entries which are most likely to meet the Judging Criteria.

2.2 Entrants identified in the shortlisting process will be invited to attend a judging interview on Wednesday 14th November 2018.

If an entrant chosen by the Judges is unable to attend the judging interview then such entrant will be automatically withdrawn to be replaced by an alternative entrant at the Judges absolute discretion.

2.3 Entries to be presented only on the application form provided:

  • Via the website application form
  • By hand delivery between 9am and 5pm on any normal working day
  • By post to Howard Worth Chartered Accountants Drake House, Gadbrook Way, Gadbrook Park, Northwich, Cheshire CW9 7RA

2.4       In each case entries must be received by the closing time and date. Any entry received after the closing date will be invalid.

3. Judging Criteria

3.1       The Judges may in their absolute discretion take account of any other factors they consider relevant in making their decision.

3.2       The winning entrant will be in the Judges opinion the best proposal for a Business.

3.3       There should be no direct communication between the entrants or anyone on their behalf and the Judges outside the interviewing process.

3.4       There will be no appeal against the Judges decision which shall be final.

4. Prizes

4.1 The Judges will award prizes to three winning entrants;-

4.1.1 First – A gift of £2,500 cash payable within 30 days and legal mentoring from Mosshaselhurst Solicitors and accountancy mentoring from Howard Worth for a period of 12 months from the date of the Judges decision.

4.1.2    Second – An offer of legal mentoring from Mosshaselhurst Solicitors and accountancy mentoring from Howard Worth for a period of 6 months from the date of the Judges decision.

4.1.3 Third – An offer of legal mentoring from Mosshaselhurst Solicitors and accountancy mentoring from Howard Worth for a period of 3 months from the date of the Judges decision.

4.2 None of the prizes are transferable.

4.3 There is no cash alternative to the second and third prize. In each case if not accepted by 31st  December 2018 such prize will be withdrawn. The Judges reserve the right to offer any element of the prize to an alternative entrant, or to re-offer such prize in any future competition.

5. Consent and Data Protection

5.1 By submitting their entry to this competition each entrant agrees:

5.2 To be bound by these Terms and Conditions;

5.3 To supply to the Promoters their full name, postal address and day time telephone number;

5.4 If awarded a prize to release to the Judges; irrevocable permission to use their name, likeness, name of their business and postal address for promotional purposes such permission to be limited to the administration of the competition and  for promotional purposes;

5.5 Other information including application forms submitted by Entrants to the Promoters will be destroyed by 31st  December 2018;

5.6 Entrants accept that if they win the Judges will have the right without additional payment or permission to use the entrants name, age, town of residence, likeness and business logos for purposes of announcing the winners of the completion and for related promotional purposes.

6. Liability

6.1 Neither the Promoters nor any person or organisation, Principals or employees of the Promoters accept any liability for any claim, damage, or loss (including consequential loss) or for any expense of any kind arising directly or indirectly out of the competition, or arising from the winning entrant’s acceptance of any Prize.

6.2 Neither the Promoters of the Salters Den competition nor any of their Principals or employees or associates have any involvement, connection or affiliation with the British Broadcasting Corporation or its television programme, “Dragons Den”.

6.3 The Promoters reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions or to cancel, alter or amend the competition or the prize at any stage if deemed necessary in their unfettered opinion or if circumstances arise outside their control. 7. Acceptance

7.1 I confirm that I have read these Terms and Conditions and that I have fully understood them.

7.2 I agree that by submitting my entry to the competition I have signified my unequivocal acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
